Abstract
The author, Ruth Castellano, presents the long-term sandplay therapy process of a woman in search of her feminine identity while coming to terms with her strict cultural upbringing. The client’s sandplay images depict psychological movement from construction, to destruction and chaos, to opening into more positive relationships with herself, her family, and a new partner. The client’s sandplay process allowed her to interact with archetypal symbolism that reflected unconscious processes, including symbolic alchemical interactions with fire, water, air, and earth. As the treatment unfolded, the unconscious offered support through dreams, through her body, and through sandplay. The client's work began with suffering symbolized by the image of a cracked and broken heart in the tray, and ended with the image of a whole heart.

Zusammenfassung: Die Autorin Ruth Castellano stellt den langfristigen Sandspielprozess einer Frau vor, die auf der Suche nach ihrer weiblichen Identität war, während sie sich mit ihrer strengen kulturellen Erziehung auseinandersetzte. תקציר: הכותבת, רות קסטלאנו, מציגה תהליך טיפולי ארוך טווח במשחק בחול עם אישה שמחפשת את זהותה הנשית תוך קבלה של חינוכה התרבותי הנוקשה. הדימויים שיצרה בחול מתארים תנועה נפשית מבנייה להרס ואל כאוס, ובהמשך לקראת פתיחות ליחסים חיוביים יותר עם עצמה, עם משפחתה ועם בן זוג חדש. התהליך שלה במשחק בחול אפשר לה להיות בקשר עם סמליות ארכיטיפלית שמשקפת תהליכים לא-מודעים, שכוללים יחסים סמליים אלכימיים עם אש, מים, אויר ואדמה. תוך כדי התהליך הופיעה עזרה מהלא-מודע באמצעות חלומות, דרך הגוף ובעזרת משחק בחול. העבודה של המטופלת התחילה בסמליות של סבל שיוצג על ידי לב שבור וסדוק במגש החול, והסתיימה בדימוי של לב שלם.

As imagens de sandplay da cliente retratam um movimento psicológico que vai da construção à destruição e ao caos, até se abrir para relações mais positivas consigo mesma, com sua família e com um novo parceiro. O processo permitiu que a cliente interagisse com simbolismos arquetípicos que refletiam processos inconscientes, incluindo interações alquímicas simbólicas com fogo, água, ar e terra. Ao longo do tratamento, o inconsciente ofereceu apoio por meio de sonhos, do corpo e das imagens de sandplay. O trabalho da cliente começou com o sofrimento simbolizado por uma imagem de um coração rachado e quebrado na bandeja, e terminou com a imagem de um coração inteiro.
