Abstract
In this proceeding the author presents material about a twelve-year-old boy who had been adopted when he was an infant. The client had been referred to therapy after using a pocket knife to scratch his arms. The pattern of these markings recalled those of ritual scarifications during initiation ceremonies. The author remarked that for the purposes of this presentation—"The Meaning and Importance of a Father’s Blessing to Transform the Space Between Us: Masculine Awareness Committee Sandplay Therapists of America Fall Workshop 2021"—she selected aspects of this client’s therapy that had to do with a powerful affirmation of the client by his father.

Tim: Der Segen des Vaters
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Die Autorin beschreibt die Behandlung eines zwölfjährigen Jungen, der als Säugling adoptiert wurde. Das Kind wurde zur Therapie überwiesen, nachdem es sich mit einem Taschenmesser an den Armen geritzt hatte. Das Muster dieser Markierungen erinnerte an rituelle Narben bei Initiationszeremonien. Die Autorin betont, dass sie für diese Präsentation Aspekte aus der Therapie des Klienten ausgewählt hat, die mit einer Affirmation des Klienten durch seinen Vater zu tun haben.

RESUMEN: El autor habla del tratamiento de un niño de doce años que había sido adoptado cuando era un bebé. El niño fue remitido a terapia después de utilizar una navaja para arañar sus brazos.
