Abstract
This article explores the meaning of the skeleton as symbol in the healing process of a boy with physical trauma. The author examines how the different symbolic meanings of the skeleton assisted a therapeutic understanding of how this child rebuilt his identity after a trauma. The appearance of the skeleton in the tray highlighted the beginning of a change in the child’s psyche. A clinical case discussion emphasizes that the presence of this symbol in children’s sandplay scenes can be an important indication of transformation. In addition, the author examines archetypal and psychological perspectives of the image of the skeleton as well as investigates the presence and cultural significance that the human skeleton has held throughout history.

Das Menschliche Skelett und die Identitätsentwicklung eines Kindes im Sandspielprozess
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Dieser Beitrag untersucht die symbolische Bedeutung des Skeletts im Heilungsprozess eines Jungen mit körperlichem Trauma. Die Autorin betont, dass das Vorhandensein dieses Symbols in Kindersandspielszenen ein wichtiger Hinweis zur Transformation sein kann.
