Abstract
In late 2007, C.G. Jung’s Red Book was released from the family vault in Zurich for the first time in decades and given to Hugh Milstein from DigitalFusion to evaluate, scan and archive for future generations. The purpose of the scanning was to produce an exact facsimile copy for publication through W. W. Norton in New York. This article is a behind-the-scenes journey into how the Red Book was digitally captured and will provide insights into the technology, process, and care undertaken in Zürich during the photographic process. Hugh Milstein will reveal the technological accomplishments that allowed this masterwork to be safely scanned and reproduced with amazing clarity. Even today, nearly 8 years later—these are some of the largest scans of a manuscript ever produced, and solidify a transformative historical statement about Jung's Red Book and its place in modern reality.

Kunst, Technologie und die Erhaltung von Jungs Rotem Buch für die Zukunft
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Ende 2007 wurde zum ersten Mal seit Jahrzehnten Jungs Rotes Buch vom Familien Tresor in Zürich freigegeben und Hugh Milstein von DigitalFusion zur Bewertung, Scan und Archivierung für künftige Generationen übergeben. Die Absicht des Scans war eine genaue Kopie für die Veröffentlichung durch W.W. Norton in New York zu produzieren. Dieser Beitrag ist eine Reise hinter die Kulissen der Digitalisierung des Rote Buches. Selbst heute, fast 8 Jahre später, sind diese Scans der Manuskripte mit einer der besten Auflösung die je produziert wurden und stellen ein unwandelndes historisches Statement über Jungs Rotes Buch und seine Platz in der modernen Realität dar.
