Abstract
This article explores the sandplay process of a woman, age 73, who was experiencing despair during an intensive life crisis. Deceived and abandoned by her husband, she felt overwhelmed with feelings of hopelessness and psychically torn into pieces. Crying and talking brought her no relief from her desperation. In the attentive silence of sandplay therapy she found her “stillpoint…at crossroads” and the ability to go deep and get herself back together again. The client unexpectedly encountered the wound of an early childhood trauma. She lost her father at the age of 3 through an act of violence. Through sandplay therapy deep metaphors and symbolism emerged. This article explores the therapeutic process of how the client’s sandplay depicted the central theme of death, dismemberment and rebirth. It resonates with the resurrection myth of Osiris. The symbols and colors used in the trays indicate the alchemical transformation process that was taking place. The stages of transformation in this process are reviewed and reflected upon. De Wederopstanding van Osiris: Een Trauma na Zeventig Jaar Begraven
Korte Inhoud: In dit artikel wordt het sandplay therapie proces beschreven van een drieënzeventig jarige vrouw, die in een heftige levenscrisis terecht was gekomen. Overspoeld door somberheid en gevoelens van hopeloosheid, zocht zij psychotherapeutische ondersteuning. Verbale gesprekken hielpen haar niet verder. In de stilte en vol aandacht voor Sandplay Therapie vond zij uiteindelijk haar mogelijkheid tot expressie. Binnen de rust en diepte van deze werkwijze ontmoette zij haar eigen intuïtieve krachtbron, die haar in staat stelde zich zelf te helen. Geheel onverwacht stootte zij tijdens de eerste sessies op een diep verborgen trauma uit haar vroege kindertijd. Op driejarige leeftijd verloor zij haar vader ten gevolge van een gewelddadig delict. In Sandplay Therapie vond zij representatieve mogelijkheden om haar lijden en angsten symbolisch en metaforisch vorm te geven. De leidraad van dit artikel is het thema van 'sterven en (weer) geboren worden’. Het resoneert met de wederopstandings-mythe van Osiris. De gebruikte symbolische figuren en kleuren in de zandbeelden wijzen op een analogie met de fasen van de alchemie. Het centrale archetype in de zandbeelden is een berg. Het proces omvat zeven zandbeelden binnen een kortdurende therapie.

Die Auferstehung von Osiris: Ein Trauma Wird nach 70 Jähren Begraben
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Dieser Beitrag untersucht den Sandspielprozeß einer 83-jährigen Frau, die während einer intensiven Lebenskrise verzweifelte. Sie fühlte sich hoffnungslos. In der Stille der Sandspieltherapie fand sie ihren »Ruhepunkt an einer Kreuzung«. Sie fand die Wunde eines Kindheitstraumas. Dieser Beitrag erforscht wie das Sandspiel der Klientin das zentrale Thema von Leben, Zerstückelung und Wiedergeburt darstellt und wie es mit dem Aufstehungsmythos von Osiris resoniert.
