Abstract
The author discusses the personal and collective chaos in which we find ourselves in this ever changing world. Her presentation explored the search for the still-point as means to live amidst such chaos. It is Jung that reminds us that it is the energy of the child that will help us out of this dark place and into the possibility of something new—bringing future change to find our way. Through the sandplay case of a 7-year-old boy, the author explores explore how to both witness and contain both our clients’ chaos, as well as our own. This case illustrates how a child was able to use sandplay in psychotherapy as a means to find a still-point within himself, despite the chaos he was experiencing throughout the process of his parents’ divorce. This article is a proceeding from Finding the Stillpoint… at the Crossroads, the 23rd ISST Congress, Ottawa, Canada, 2015.
