Abstract
This article explores the modern history of the decorative crystal paperweight and how it is linked to symbols of wholeness such the sphere, orb, and crystal ball. Crystal paperweights are made from the elements of sand, fire, air, and water connecting them to the earth and creation. Included is a clinical example of a young teenager who uses crystal paperweights throughout her sandplay process and reconnects to life after a significant family loss. As symbolic image, the crystal paperweight appearing in the client’s sandplay scenes, demonstrates her transformation, as well as, the transference and co-transference relationships between the client, the figures used, and the therapist.

Der Kristallbriefbeschwerer in der Sandspieltherapie
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Dieser Beitrag untersucht die moderne Geschichte des dekorativen Kristallbriefbeschwerers. Die Autorin untersucht ein klinisches Beispiel eines jungen Teenagers, die während ihres Sandplay-Prozesses Briefbeschwerer verwendet und sich nach einem erheblichen Familienverlust wieder mit dem Leben verbindet.
