Abstract
The Gateway: Boundary, Entrance and Threshold explores the symbol of the threshold and its significance, drawing on historical, mythological, religious and neurological sources. The author argues that the threshold, mirrors the transcendent function itself, bringing together the opposites and providing a third space where something new can emerge. The gateway symbol is discussed in its many aspects as it presented in the sandplay work of a 9-year-old girl who was approaching puberty and dealing with the many losses created by her parents’ separation and divorce.

Der Torweg: Grenze, Eingang und Schwelle
ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: »Der Torweg: Grenze, Eingang und Schwelle« erforscht das Symbol der Schwelle und seine Bedeutung und stützt sich dabei auf historische, mythologische, religiöse und neurologische Quellen. Der Autor argumentiert, dass die Schwelle die transzendente Funktion selbst widerspiegelt, indem sie die Gegensätze zusammenbringt und einen dritten Raum bietet, in dem etwas Neues entstehen kann. Das Symbol der Schwelle wird in seinen vielen Aspekten erörtert, wie es in der Sandspielarbeit eines 9-jährigen Mädchens dargestellt wurde, das sich der Pubertät näherte und mit den vielen Verlusten zu kämpfen hatte, die durch die Trennung und Scheidung ihrer Eltern entstanden waren.
