Abstract
The author describes the use of her sandtray in her home shortly after her son’s death. During this time the tray became her means of holding the energy of the grief and vulnerability that was most deeply felt in the middle of the night, when the memories were most profound. The sand provided the means for expressing the feelings trapped within her body in the shock of his death. The miniatures and sand pictures provided emotional expression of what couldn’t be spoken.
