Abstract
Dr. Kate Amatruda, Founding Member of STA comments on the September 11, 2001 and trauma responses. Amatruda refers to how children after a trauma initially experience somatic symptoms. “What is held must be enacted in order to heal.” She also refers to the work of Bessel van der Kolk and Rita Risler. She calls the reader to remember and reaffirm the “healing power of the human spirit, and the resiliency of the heart.”
