Abstract
In unraveling the journey’s path for men at midlife, the author uses the metaphor of a “fishing trip” in recognition of one of the early, prominent archetypal images employed in the client’s sandplay process, namely that of the fisherman. Indeed every midlife man and adolescent male the author ever worked with in sandplay therapy has included the fisherman early on in his sandplay work. The author identifies the psychological tasks of men’s midlife journey, various pertinent paradigms of spiritual transformation and growth in midlife men, and the issue of inclusion of the masculine in sandplay theory and practice. In this article there is a review of a brief, but complete sandplay therapy process of a midlife man. The author concludes by commenting that Jung recognized the importance of each person turning within, of plumbing the depths of the waters of the unconscious to connect with those aspects of the psyche that still need to be integrated, healed, and made whole.

Die Spirituelle Reise eines Mannes in der Legensmitte
