Masculine Initiation: The Stages of Sandplay of Younger Men and Boys

Abstract

This article details the uniquely masculine issues that can be seen during the sandplay process. Special attention is given to the concept and principles of initiation, and how these are relevant to the masculine journey of Self discovery. A brief description of the space needed for this process, stages involved, and basic truths of initiation are provided. The author concludes that while many males have typical sandplay journeys, many may also need to express significant aggression in this process to achieve their treatment goals.
