Abstract
Dr. Darcey Ortolf explores the symbolic image of the seal and includes clinical material in this article. She comments that the seal image can symbolize the instinctual pull to retrieve that which is needed from within oneself. She comments that the seal as figurine and symbolic image can indicate early abandonment issues. She cites Estes, 1992 and others who have written about the seal and the theme of finding one’s way home.
