Abstract
In this article the author shows how, in a rather brief sandplay process, a significant transformation can occur when an unconscious process is activated within the free and protected space of the sandtray and the containment of the therapeutic relationship. A woman in mid-life re-enacts in the sand the drama of the Beauty and the Beast story. Through her confrontation with the terrifying inner Beast and the constellation of the transcendent function, she experiences a resolution of to both her inner and outer conflict.
