Abstract
Prof. Dr. Takao Oda presents a describes and discusses the treatment of a patient. He concludes that it is crucial for sandplay therapists not only to accept the patient’s need for mirroring but also to psychically live through a similar process to that of their patients. He comments that it is difficult for these patients to face their ambivalent feeling and emotions, and to make decisions. He compares the situation with that of the newborn grandchild of the sun goddess Amaterasu. The constellation of the therapeutic container will help patients to descend to earth (just like Amaterasu’s grandchild). Narcissistic patients will be able to face their own ambivalence and to become adults who are contained within the container.
