Abstract
Jacinta Frawley reports on the First Australian Sandplay Conference held in October, 2006 in Sydney, Australia. This conference was well attended by and sponsored by the Australian and New Zealand Society of Jungian Analysts. Ruth Ammann’s keynote address was entitled Sandplay in an International, Intercultural, and Multilingual Therapy World. Many other presentations followed including The Initial Sand Tray as Guiding Metaphor by Jacinta Frawley, Meaning in the Making: A Study of Sand Stories by Anangu Girls in Central Australia by Ute Eickelkamp and many other important presentations. The author notes that in Australia therapists are keenly aware of the tension between the experience of Indigenous and migrant cultures.
