Abstract
Aliveness and deadness states present themselves in our lives and in our consulting rooms. These states are shown dramatically in sandplay scenes both in adult and children’s work. The natural world, the alive world, that Dora Kalff spoke about is diminishing. This generation of children may be the first to have minimal or no contact with the natural world. The author ponders how to keep alive a relationship to the alive symbolic.
