Abstract

An extensive description of the manuscript Splendor Solis from the 16th century is presented in this article. The author of the manuscript is anonymous, by the pen name Solomon Trismosin. The original is in the British Museum. This manuscript demonstrates the alchemical process of the origins of the four elements, water, fire, earth, and air. Through these 11 paintings, the author explains the transformative process. This review gives the reader a Jungian perspective of the manuscript.
