Abstract
This paper explores the development of the shadow complex in childhood and the ability of sandplay therapy to allow the young child to integrate his shadow complex into the personality. Case examples are shown with images of the miniature figure of Adolf Hitler representing the child’s shadow. As this figure is caged and defeated, the child develops a stronger ego with evidence of a new internal moral authority.
