How does the Ethics Committee assess an alleged violation? “If a member of STA knows of a possible violation of STA standards for professional conduct by another member, they shall first informally attempt to resolve the issue by bringing it to the attention of the member in question if possible and appropriate. This is particularly appropriate in situations in which the issue appears to be a function of the lack of knowledge, sensitivity, or experience and may be resolved through informal discussion. Potential violations that are not minor in nature or resolved through informal discussion with the member shall be brought by the STA member to the attention of the Ethics Committee in writing and signed.
