Abstract

The author, Maria Ellen Chiaia, presents and discusses the six-years of  therapy and sandplay with a patient suffering from a history of a childhood of extreme deprivation and loneliness.  The patient suffered with depression which was in part associated with miscarriages. The author explores the co-transference (Bradway, 1991) as well as psychological regressive and progressive movements during therapy.  Dr. Chiaia discusses and amplifies the client’s symbolic use of miniatures.
