ABSTRACT: The author tracks symbolic expressions in a female client’s sandplay process. The main image which appears throughout the process is that of the sun. Also prominent are the images of the rainbow, eagle, boat as well as themes of containment, transformation, etc. The client had suffered from a catastrophic family trauma. She had become her husband’s primary caregiver who had become paralyzed and eventually died. By the end of therapy the client felt she was fully equipped to continue with her life.
