Abstract: The author discusses the use of the terms “sandtray,” “sandplay,” and “sandworld.” She suggests three distinguishing characteristics to differentiate other uses of sand, water and miniatures (swam) from Kalff’s sandplay: process, delayed interpretation, dual process.
