This ongoing online monthly reading group will deepen understanding of Sandplay Therapy, symbolic
expression, and archetypal dimensions through the lens of depth psychology. We will choose and
discuss articles from the Journal of Sandplay Therapy, a peer-viewed professional psychotherapy
journal. There will be an expected commitment from participants to meet monthly for six months.
Sessions will be 90 minutes for each meeting. Facilitators will be Judy Zappacosta, MFT, CST-T and Jill
Kaplan, MFT, CST-T. When possible, authors of specific journal articles will be invited to join in the
discussions as well. We will consider how sandplay therapy may proceed and somatic implications that
may lead to new consciousness. Subject matter will cover Jungian theory, Kalffian sandplay practices,
transference and co-transference, neurobiology, and the importance of symbols arising in analytic work.
