Participants will have the opportunity to explore the Chaos, or beginning, stage of sandplay, and will witness the process of holding the space for a client’s fragmentation until the psyche naturally gravitates toward centering and safety. We hope to provide a framework within which to explore the journey that takes one from Chaos or Threat to an inner harmony where the Self can be realized. We will explore how learning to move ourselves from internal chaos to calm is a part of our own self care, and this personal work, as Jung believed, is a necessary step in the healing of the world. We will consider how nurturing our relationship with our greater community is a vital part of our own self care. This small group intensive will offer participants a space within which to immerse themselves in the realm of sandplay through case studies, didactic materials, and experiential. Experiential may include activities with clay, paint, music, meditation and yoga, journaling, collaging, and dance and body movement using some of the work of Marion Woodman. Case studies will include both adult and child case work, and will seek to deepen the participants knowledge of sandplay processes, Jungian concepts, and Eastern elements of silence, and presence. The trainers will look to teach on tracking themes, interpreting in the context of the whole process, holding a free and protected space, and co-transference. An exploration of Shadow, the work and expression of Individuation and the unconscious as it shows up in the sandtray and the process will be delved into.
