This weekend introductory training teaches the basics of sandplay. Several times each year, this training is offered to therapists and therapists-in-training. It is always a fun weekend, with a large experiential component. In this training, you will learn to create a psychotherapy office setting for sandplay with the necessary equipment and you will be able to begin using sandplay in your practice.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the necessary equipment needed for setting up sandplay for a psychotherapy office.
- Identify ways sandplay can be used in psychotherapy practice.
- Name practical sandplay skills with clients.
- List important aspects of symbols in sandplay.
- Identify differences between sandplay and sandtray.
- List reasons for safety in sandplay.
- Identify ethical and competent ways to use sandplay with diverse client populations.
Linda Cunningham, PhD, MFT, MHC, CST-T is a certified teaching member of STA & ISST and the author of Sandplay and the Clinical Relationship (2013). Over the past twenty years, she has written many articles for the Journal of Sandplay Therapy on the topic of the therapeutic relationship in sandplay and is a frequent presenter at conferences. Dr. Cunningham currently gives sandplay trainings online to an international audience.
