This weekend introductory training teaches the basics of sandplay. Several times each year, this training is offered to therapists and therapists-in-training. It is always a fun weekend, with a large experiential component. In this training, you will learn to create a psychotherapy office setting for sandplay with the necessary equipment and you will be able to begin using sandplay in your practice.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify the necessary equipment needed for setting up sandplay for a psychotherapy office.
2. Identify ways sandplay can be used in psychotherapy practice.
3. Name practical sandplay skills with clients.
4. List important aspects of symbols in sandplay.
5. Identify differences between sandplay and sandtray.
6. List reasons for safety in sandplay.
7. Identify ethical and competent ways to use sandplay with diverse client populations.

Linda Cunningham, Ph.D., MFT, CST-T is the author of Sandplay and the Clinical Relationship (2013), Relational Sandplay Therapy (2005) and many articles in the Journal of Sandplay Therapy. She has taught sandplay for many years in both graduate and postgraduate settings. Linda was adjunct faculty in the Sonoma State University M.A. Depth Psychology Program and at the California Institute of Integral Studies and is a certified Teaching Member of STA/ISST. She has a private practice in Gig Harbor, WA.
