Cemetery statues depicting figures in mourning or reaching towards healing can hold profound symbolic significance in the context of sandplay therapy. I found most of these images in a cemetery in Rochester Hills, Michigan during a time of profound change. They provided me with healing and comfort during a transitional time. These statues may represent the internal landscape of grief, loss, and the search for solace that many clients navigate during the therapeutic process. Some figures may symbolize the vulnerability and cathartic release experienced in the sand tray. Other figures may evoke a sense of reaching towards hope and restoration. These powerful visual metaphors can help clients access deeper emotional experiences and facilitate the journey towards healing.
