ABSTRACT: This article incorporates Dora Kalff’s idea of the free and protected space of sandplay, Carl Jung’s concept of individuation and the understanding of the alchemical process. The vase is the container, like the relationship between the therapist and the client, or the CO-transference The opus is the attitude and integrity of the therapist and the paradoxical of “free” and “protected”, whereby the tray holds the polarity, the bridging of the opposites. The author describes the various components of the alchemical process that correlates and is seen in a sandplay process. With this opposition, comes the transcendence of the tension of these opposites, with the expression, then, of the picture of the soul.
