ABSTRACT: This article describes the sandplay process of a young woman who had gone through multiple traumatic events. Her father had died after a traumatic injury, and after that she experienced some sexual traumas. There was a noticeable difference between her antagonism and oppositional behavior in the verbal analysis and her creativity and immersion in the process of sandplay therapy. The patient’s process is described mainly through the journey of one small figure which was present in most of the sandplay scenes, and went through dangerous adventures on the way to healing. This figure represents the journey of the hero, helping the patient to strengthen her ego, and enabling her to get in touch with softer parts of herself, which had been dissociated due to the trauma. The advantages of sandplay therapy in the healing of trauma are discussed.
