ABSTRACT: The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France to the American people, became a beacon of hope to immigrants. Following the tragedy of September 11th her image cannot escape one, on television, in newspapers and magazines. She has become an icon, a goddess of freedom. Three clinical vignettes illustrate her use in drawing and the sandplay process.
