Volunteers Needed

As you may know already, it is now possible to register for the 2015 ISST congress through the ISST website (www.ISST-Society.com).  Don’t miss that opportunity since this year, the congress will be held in Ottawa, August 5-10. Register before May 31st and benefit from the Early bird rate (725$ CAD). After May 31st, registration cost will be 825$ CAD. This congress is jointly organized by the Canadian Association for Sandplay Therapy (CAST) and Sandplay Therapists of America (STA). To facilitate access to the congress, the conference committee is offering 6 volunteer positions to the CAST and STA communities.

Volunteers will have free access to the whole congress but will be responsible for their travel and accommodation costs. In exchange, they will be asked to help in the following areas:

  • helping at the registration desk
  • be available during coffee breaks at the registration desk
  • manage tables of information
  • manage ISST material selling tables
  • be present and help presenters in evening workshops
  • be available for errands
  • volunteers will be assigned to one conference room during the plenary or breakout sessions and will see that everything goes smoothly in that room. This means that the presentations they will attend in that particular conference room may differ from their own selection of seminars.

In the selection process of volunteers, priority will be given to Sandplay Advanced Candidates or Sandplay Practitioners (working towards clinical certification) who are working in non-profit agencies or low fee clinics as therapists or interns treating diverse populations. For Canadian applicants, bilingualism French/English is an asset. If you are interested by such a position, please let us know in writing, specifying why you would like to be chosen.

To help us evaluate your candidacy, please also address the following areas:

  • where you work and what kind of populations you work with
  • number of sandplay training hours acquired so far
  • number of sandplay supervision hours
  • number of sandplay clinical hours
  • specify if personnel process has begun or not, is complete or in progress
  • written papers done so far
  • affiliation to CAST or STA

Send your letter to Denise Tanguay (denise.tanguay@concordia.ca) BEFORE MAY 10. The conference committee will revew your application. Volunteers will have to be members of a national organization (CAST/STA) or be sponsored by a teaching member of one of these organizations to attend the congress.
