Shafarman, Gail. Sandplay and the Retrieval and Integration of Preverbal Experiences

Volume 5, Number 1, 1996 (Volume V, Number, 1 1996)

KEY WORDS: integration, preverbal, sandplay therapy, language, words, verbal, memory, right hemisphere

ABSTRACT: This article discusses the value of sandplay in providing greater access to the totality of the personality. The making of the sandplay allows for that which has been repressed to be expressed into consciousness, giving “concrete form to states of being that are normally inaccessible”, perhaps pre-verbally. This process of expression allows for inner healing, in totality.
