Zappacosta, Judy. Landscape, Place and Identity in Sandplay Therapy

Volume 18, Number 1, 2009

Keywords: landscape, metaphors, symbols of identity, interior geography in sandplay therapy.

Abstract: This article explores the image of landscape, both in the outer and interior worlds of the psyche and as observed in sandplay. The geography of a place helps create a sense of identity and purpose. This idea is examined by studying the creations built by C.G. Jung, poet, Robinson Jeffers, and the case study of a young boy who goes “fishing” for his sense of place and identity.
