Kalff, Martin. Twenty-One Points to be Considered in the Interpretation of a Sandplay

Volume XVI, Number 1

Keywords: interpretation, sandplay, guidelines, sandplay process.
Abstract: Twenty Points to be Considered in the Interpretation of a Sandplay was published in this Journal in 1993. These reflections on sandplay interpretation were originally compiled in response to American students’ requests for guidelines on interpretation. The article was revised and expanded in 2006 and its title updated to Twenty-One Points to be Considered in the Interpretation of a Sandplay. Sandplay allows for the expression of preverbal consciousness. Interpretation by the therapist to the client is discouraged in order to not limit the client’s freedom of expression and experience. Twenty-one points are considered for the understanding of a client’s sandplay process.
