Lan, Gao. Sandplay in the Mainland of China

Volume 12, Number 2, 2003 (Volume XII, Number 2, 2003)

KEY WORDS: sandplay therapy, China, schools, child, children.

ABSTRACT: The author offers an update of the current state of sandplay in the mainland of China. She writes about her work as a child psychology professor, supervisor of graduate students, and as dean of three pre-schools in China. The author describes how she has used sandplay in pre-schools and explains that she has termed her work “Sandplay Without Therapy” to differentiate it from sandplay therapy. She includes a brief example of a pre-school boy’s use of the sand.
