ABSTRACT: The author focuses on early trauma and in the importance of silence when working with preverbal wounding. She synthesizes a number of theoretical perspectives including sandplay theory & practice and Jungian analytic and psychoanalytic theories. Clinical examples are included. (This article is based on a presentation given at the 2001 Psychoanalytic Division 39 of the APA in Santa Fe, NM).
